Review

Connie Hershey deserves much praise for her recognition of this moment in the history of the L.A. scene and her critical ear for poetry. These poems are ferociously sincere, clever, masterful, and honest in tone and content. The poets combine recent L.A. movements into one sometimes seamless whole, linking the academy, those divorced from academia, and themes that echo the Beyond Baroque movement identified with Dennis Cooper, David Trinidad, and Amy Gerstler.
