The first anthology of readings from the Alley Cat Restaurant in Los Angeles. Works are drawn from readings in November and December, 1975. Authors include Kate Ellen Braverman, James Krusoe, Doraine Poretz, Michael Andrews, Dennis Ellman, Michael C. Ford, Eloise Healy, and Marcus J. Grapes. Very, very rare: from a set of the first edition that was signed by all the authors.
The Editors
- Michael Andrews
- is co-founder/publisher/editor with Jack Grapes of Bombshelter Press and ONTHEBUS, living, for the moment, in L.A. and getting by. He has published 7 books of poetry, and 3 fine print poetry/photography portfolios. He has traveled around the world twice, spent time in Vietnam and Iran, rode a motorcycle to Peru, ran the San Juan River and recently spent a month in the Peruvian Amazon. His leg was seriously damaged in a motorcycle accident in 1987. He is currently working on two novels, a book of speculative philosophy, and creating photographic and poetry montages as digital images. He works as a computer programmer/analyst. He worked as a civilian in Vietnam from 1969 through 1971.
- Jack Grapes
- is an award-winning poet, playwright, actor and teacher, recipient of numerous fellowships and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council. He's the author of 13 books of poetry, and also wrote and starred in Circle of Will, which ran for several years in Hollywood and won drama critic awards for Best Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor.
